Sunday 31 August 2014 saw friends, family and colleagues of ORA head for the hills for their 16th (we think!) Annual Walk. This year we headed back to East Lothian to walk the John Muir Trail from North Berwick to Bellhaven Bay near Dunbar via the popular town of East Linton. The main aim of our walks are to enjoy ourselves and experience the rich and varied landscape that Scotland has to offer.
We joined the trail at the Law Primary School and quickly found ourselves on the slopes of Berwick Law where we shared the clear blue skies and 360 degree panoramic views with some wild ponies. Continuing our journey, and after a few miles on country tracks, quiet roads and through enchanted forests we arrived at East Linton where many of our ‘crew’ enjoyed the home-baking stall at the local village hall. Determined to ‘walk off’ the newly gained calories we followed the River Tyne, passing Preston Mill and the Phantassie Doocot, before joining the coast and beaches of the John Muir Country Park. At the end we were greeted with a beer or two!
The walk was c.17km long and took us through a rich variety of landscapes. Combined with good company and fine chat made this another vintage year for the Annual ORA Walk.
